Charitable giving is "in the company's DNA," as the right thing
to do, Qwest Communications International CEO Richard Notebaert
is fond of saying.
But such giving also is arguably part of Qwest's and Notebaert's
charm offensive in the community in the last few years.
Marketing experts say the telephone company has been successful
in distancing itself from former company chief Joe Nacchio, who
faces 42 counts of illegal insider trading for $100.8 million in
stock sales he made in 2001. Nacchio has pleaded not guilty,
and is slated to go to trial March 19.
