Former Colorado U.S. Attorney William Leone, who headed the
government’s investigation of former Qwest executives, is
joining Faegre & Benson as a partner in its Denver office.
Leone, 50, decided in August to return to private practice,
eight months after securing an insider-trading indictment
against former Qwest CEO Joe Nacchio. That trial is
scheduled to begin March 29.
Leone said he was attracted to Faegre & Benson because "it’s
a little bit of a hybrid" with a 100-attorney local office
as well as offices in Europe and China.
Leone worked at the U.S. attorney’s office in Colorado for
five years as first assistant and, most recently, as U.S.
attorney. Before that, he served as a partner of Cooley
Godward in Broomfield.
